Blossom - Available (SC)

Additional Information

Blossom is a mastiff who has come a long way in six months.  She came into rescue very shut down, withdrawn and hopeless, a gentle dog for whom life had not gone well.   Once she came to a very mastiff-experienced foster who is content to let dogs choose their timetable, things began to improve.  Bit by bit the momentum of progress has increased.  She is still intimidated by strangers but she is trusting of her foster family and happily goes out for forest and farm walks with them and the dogs and even the goats!

She was initially unwilling to come out of her living room crate (with a cover) for 36 hours while the life of the family, people and dogs, went on around her but when she finally did she found her way to the fosters’ bedroom and slept there.  She progressed to joining everyone on the porch in the evening and then to walks around the farm, startled and fearful of everything at first but gradually showing her pleasure in running through the woods with the dogs and the goats.  Said the foster, “She’s started showing glimpses of her inner happy, waggy, wiggly self.  She sleeps with us, tells me when she needs to go out, is excited about treats though still nervous about taking them from my hand.  Given the time she needs she’s going to be a fabulous dog.”

She will need a quiet peaceful home with a patient person willing to let her unfold in her own time.  She is gorgeous physically and unfailingly gentle in her manner and personality, kind in her behavior to everyone.
