Courage is a wonderful, mellow, 9 yr old fawn male mastiff. Although much loved and extremely well cared for by his people, Courage needed a new home when his owners were no longer able to care for him.
He has been fostered in SSMR since early November and his foster has nothing but praise for him. He has impeccable manners, walks sedately on a leash, LOVES car rides so much that it is unwise to leave a vehicle door open, and is friendly with everyone, strangers, vets, the guy putting down mulch, etc.
After car rides his favorite things are affection and attention, food, wandering around a yard and napping in the sun. His perfect evening is hanging out with the humans, while they are reading or watching television.
He loves little dogs and is apparently quite tolerant of cats. He lived with a Yorkie and we have videos of him lying on the floor, playing with the Yorkie. In one of them the resident cat was watching from an ottoman.
He has pretty much ignored his foster’s two young, exuberant female mastiffs. He attempted a little play dance with one but quickly thought better of it.
Nothing upsets him. His foster describes him as the most amiable, adaptable dog they’ve ever fostered. His vet of the past seven years said, “This is a sweet, kind dog who has lived his whole life being The Good Dog and was loved and appreciated every minute of it.”
He has difficulty with slippery wood floors and would benefit from a home with carpeted floors or area rugs. Additionally quieter dogs and a calm household would be preferred as he is a mild, gentle soul who deserves peace in his later years.
He is in excellent health and has perfect blood work. He was described by his people as having had occasional seizures all his life, that are well controlled by meds. His vet confirmed that his seizures are very brief, mild, even easy to miss.
The foster added CBD oil to his diet and has not seen a seizure since he arrived on November 9th.
He comes with a gigantic comfy crate where he likes to sleep and a big orthopedic bed for napping in. His food, preventatives, CBD oil and all approved vetting will be provided by SSMR.
