Dr. Robert - Available (NC)

Additional Information

Dr. Robert is an extremely handsome and large fawn Mastiff who celebrated his first birthday in mid-November. He is very playful and extremely loving. He will sit with and adore you as long as you maintain a petting hand. He’s a real Velcro-dog, always wanting to be with his people, which puts him underfoot occasionally. He has been well-vetted by his current owner who had two Mastiffs before him, and is UTD on all vaccinations and current on all preventatives.

He adores children and is wonderful with his two human siblings, ages 9 and 11. Unfortunately, he didn’t get the memo about four legs growing faster than two, so he has a tendency to jump up and bowl small people over. He is very smart and learned the basics: sit, down, stay, speak and shake, from his kids. However, the emphasis has been on brief performance rather than consistency. He does love “fetch” but will only go after the ball once it lands, thereby not wasting energy, further demonstrating his intelligence.

Since he’s had no formal training, he needs a foster/adopter with previous experience training big dogs. Therefore only applications with information about such experience will be considered.

More Information about Dr. Robert

Dr. Robert has requested that we provide some additional and more specific details about his needs:

  • He is barely one year old.
  • He weighs 150 lbs.
  • He has no boundaries.
  • He can't be relied upon to obey commands.
  • He is too exuberant for his current mastiff-experienced owner.
  • The two kids he adores no longer want to be anywhere around him.
  • He hasn't been allowed in the house for months.
  • He needs an immediate foster who knows how to set and enforce boundaries, who has the muscle strength to insist on them; and is dog savvy enough to know how to accomplish all this without negatively affecting his magnificent good will.
  • He is a happy, loving puppy who has the potential to be a loyal and devoted friend in the right home.
