George is a young (12-15 months) charming male Cane Corso taken in from a South Carolina shelter where he was the apple of everyone’s eye. He is in foster in South Carolina where he is now the apple of the foster’s eye.
He is a charming flirt with everyone he meets. He is a happy, friendly 140 lb puppy filled with enthusiasm and no worries. He was respectful with female dogs at the shelter and has been non-reactive to dogs around him where he is, even one highly annoying small dog.
He has had no training whatsoever, certainly no introduction to the notion of boundaries and the fact that humans often want respect for some boundaries that he doesn’t think necessary. He definitely is accustomed to following his own agenda and will try to ignore yours with little tricks like not looking at you when asked to do (or not do) something requested. He is, fortunately, extremely smart and learns what is wanted very quickly but this is a dog for whom clarity and consistency are absolutely essential.
Like all mastiffs, he loves routine and takes great joy in showing you how well he knows what’s coming next. He does not tear things up, is neat about his food and can be touched while eating. He can push you around if he wants to get somewhere but he is a kind and compliant dog if you exercise clear leadership.
He is not strong on a leash. He certainly might pull if he saw something really exciting but he doesn’t have a tendency to pull or be impolite. He has learned “sit” and “down” but, like most dogs, resists “down”.
He is energetic and athletic. An avid hiker who likes to hang out in the evening would be his ideal person!
