Sadie is an exceptionally elegant seven year old Brindle female Mastiff who (alas!) suddenly found herself in a shelter when her owner died. She was quite the shelter pet during her stay and was spoiled outrageously by the staff before coming to SSMR. She is calm, regal and affectionate with everyone but definitely is on the lookout for another special person to devote her life to pleasing.
What Sadie has in mind is a quiet, relaxed house where she can be with her person 24/7, sharing the couch and hopefully the bed.
She has a few favorite things. She loves to go on walks. At the sight of a leash she will start to whine, talk, and break into a little dance of anticipation. Excitement notwithstanding, she wants those walks to be slow, leisurely outings, stopping to smell the roses (and most everything else). She has impeccable leash manners, staying at your side with absolutely no pulling. She ignores dogs she sees on a walk and has no interest in those ridiculous squirrels.
She has excellent house manners, perfectly housebroken with never an accident. If you have a fenced yard she will let you know when she needs to go out. She is very smart, listens and learns new things quickly. Her foster taught her “to go to her spot to eat and to sit and say until the food is put down.” She always responds to No, Come, Sit, Down and Let’s Go. She knows and usually responds to Go, Off, Wait, Quiet, and Settle. She is extremely alert to what you want her to do and adjusts easily to any Rules of the House.
Her prior owner was probably a woman as she likes women much more than men and she is not at all keen to share her house with another dog.
