It's all about the Mastiffs!

We cover the states of Virginia, North & South Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee, Alabama and Mississippi

We place Old English Mastiffs that have been abandoned, turned in to shelters, strays, and accept dogs into the rescue program from persons unable to care for their mastiff physically and/or financially. To date, we have rescued and placed over thirteen - hundred English Mastiffs.

*We do not accept any dogs that have shown past aggression towards people or other animals.

Whether you are interested in adopting a Mastiff, becoming a SSMR foster family or just visiting to learn more about mastiffs we hope you will enjoy browsing through our website. Please note: we are only able to adopt out and accept into our program pure bred English Mastiffs from VA, NC, SC, GA, AL, TN or MS.

SSMR is a 501(c)(3) organization and continues to exist only through the many hours of work our volunteers provide and through the generous financial support of donors and grant organizations.

If you have an English Mastiff that you are considering surrendering to SSMR, please remember that we only accept dogs from a limited geographic area-VA, NC, SC, GA, MS, AL and TN and only purebred English Mastiffs. We cannot accept dogs that have demonstrated aggression towards people or animals

FOSTER HOMES ARE DESPERATELY NEEDED IN SOUTH CAROLINA! Please fill out a volunteer application if you are able to foster a mastiff in need.

Considering Adoption?

SSMR requires an adoption fee of $450 for Adult Mastiffs, $500 for Puppies, and $200 for Senior Mastiffs and Mixes. Dogs are vet checked, spayed or neutered, brought up to date on shots and are tested for Heartworm and started on a preventative before being placed in adoptive homes.

Southern States Mastiff Rescue is a 501(c)-3 Charitable Trust and donations are tax deductible. Since 2005, we have rehabilitated and placed over 1300 English Mastiffs. Donations from individual contributors make this possible, Thank you for adding us to your charitable planning!

If you are donating for a specific dog, please note their name in the Paypal Comments section. If we receive excess donations for the cost of a specific dog's care, we will apply the excess funds to the SSMR general account to cover expenses for other mastiffs in need.
